Jesus was Born

Matthew 1:23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel”(which means, God with us).
It’s almost Halloween. Time to start thinking about Christmas. Isn’t that what the retail chains tell us?
Oh wait there is more to Christmas than shopping isn’t there?
That’s right, Christmas is a celebration of remembering the birth of Jesus.
But what does that mean?
Jesus – God – the king of all creation – became a human being.
I was watching my wife feed our little girl and I realized that Jesus sucked on Mary’s nipple. Joseph wiped poop off his rear.
There is a rawness, a frailty, and an intimacy to being human with others. The creator became one of us.
As we live in this dirty mess we call a “fallen world” let’s not forget that it was good enough for a God to join us – to really and fully join us.
He was one of us in every way. So when you think that parts of your humanity are not quite good enough for God. Think again.
