God With Us

…and they shall call his name Immanuel”(which means, God with us).
What is this God with us thing all about anyway? We hear that in every Christmas pageant. But so what?
For a couple thousand years or so prior to the time this was written, people knew they lived without much hope.
God had picked a group of people (the Hebrew people) to call his own, and to make them special. That was great at first, but because they had a really hard time holding up their end of the deal (obedience), they had suffered quite a bit of misery at the hands of their enemies. This went on for about 500 years until the most fundamental question they had was “where is God?”
You ever find yourself asking that question?
In the depths of despair do you ever wonder if he cares at all? Take a look at Jesus was born and ask yourself this:
If it’s true that Jesus really became one of us – all in an effort to make this life and this world better – where is God?
The answer is simple – He really is making it better.
Soon we will get to the end of the story when we will all understand that he really has been making it better. In the meantime we can look back at what he has already done while we look forward with expectation and hope at what he will do.
